Jared Fogle Runs a Marathon

Hey all you Indianapolis bloggers (and you other random readers out there). I just received the following email from Chris who has some info about an upcoming event. Apparently, Jared Fogle is running the ING NYC Marathon, and they are having a send off for him This Thursday. There are free giveaways and fun other things. Here's the email below and a link to the Facebook page that will have all the info you need. Have fun and good luck to Jared the Subway Guy.

I wanted to get something on your radar for the network of Indianapolis Bloggers. I’m working with Jared (the SUBWAY guy) who is preparing to run the ING New York City Marathon – pretty impressive for a man who used to weigh more than 400 pounds.

He has been training with St.Vincent Sports Performance and we are putting together a rally send off event for Jared on Thursday morning. It will be a fun morning (even if it is a bit early at 6 am) and I want to extend an invitation to you and your colleagues to see if they’d be interested in coming out and possible taking some time to catch up with Jared.

Let me know your thoughts – here is the invite: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=110181679046693&ref=mf

Indy ScreamPark to Open for the Halloween Season

Hey Indy Bloggers! There is a rare opportunity available for those who are interested. I received the following email from Megan, who is giving FREE tickets to Indy ScreamPark to any blogger who is willing to write up a review. The email is below. If you are interested, just send me an email (art3dp at yahoo dot com) and I'll forward along her info. Happy early Halloween!

My name is Megan. I am working with the guys over at the Indy ScreamPark in Anderson, IN. Created by the founder of HauntedHouse.com and the publisher of Haunted Attraction Magazine, ScreamPark is Indiana’s newest haunted house. It just debuted last weekend.

I’m trying to get the word out to Indy-area bloggers and wanted to see if you’d be willing to help.

We’re offering free tickets to any blogger who wants to review the haunt. They simply have to RSVP to me.

Here’s some more information on Indy ScreamPark…you can also check them out at www.indyscreampark.com.

Thanks for your help!

Seven New Bloggers Enter the Ranks!

Many thanks to all of you who have been patiently waiting to join the ring. For seven of you, the wait is now over. Congratulations and be sure to keep up the blogging. If you think you should have been included in this group, feel free to shoot me an email to find out why you didn't make it in. Now, on to our newest members!

First up is Worth Your Attention. This blog is brought to you by a married couple from Indianapolis. Here's a bit from their About page:

He likes horror movies and cooking. She likes yoga and art. They both like non-chain restaurants, particularly ethnic ones.

Next up we have Mymsie who brings us Distracted by Something Shiny. Although there's much more to this blog, here's the short and skinny:

The adventures of a 31-year-old single Web developer.

Next is Jenn bringing us the genius that is Ye. Olde. Soul. I'll let her tell you all about the blog:

My blog contains the daily meanderings of my life and times as a twenty-something in Indianapolis. It's about getting through the quarter-life crisis alive with your friends, your camera, some travels, and of course, a little bit of vino.

Next is Kelly who blogs about her life in Per Se. Here's a bit about her life and what you'll find at the blog:

Wife, mom of three, part-time barista. Headed back to school for nursing. My life? A little hectic.

Next up is Ashley who loves learning and hopes to help you learn too with the blog That'll Teach Me. Here's a tidbit about Ashley and the blog:

News and reviews of adult continuing education opportunities in Indianapolis -- everything from pottery classes to astronomy lectures. For grown-ups who refuse to stop learning. Ashley is an education addict who loves cheese, alphabet flash cards, and her hometown of Indianapolis. In her spare time, she does her job as a freelance writer and editor.

Next we have David who brings the blog, ab initio. ab intra. Here's all you need to know:

I’m a Caucasian, forty-something, father of two from Indianapolis. I intend to post things that interest me, stories and snip-it’s from my life. Categories include: TV, Movies, Science Fiction, Science, Astronomy, History and just odd stuff in the zeitgeist. There is a page on my blog devoted to Pres. Benjamin Harrison. I used to be an historian there and have a fondness for Indy's only elected Pres. It's a pretty link interactive mini-political bio with good primary and secondary source listings. (you can even hear a recording of his voice) A good jumping off point for doing research. Sit back, pour a drink, comment or just keep on moving…

And last but not least we have The Marketing Automation Hub, brought to you by Luke and Amol. Here's what you'll find:

The Marketing Automation Hub: Marketing Automation Strategies for the Bucket Marketer. A blog focused on customer and prospect data segmentation and communication strategies and technologies.

Again, thanks to everyone for your patience and thanks for joining the Indianapolis Bloggers. Be sure to take the time to visit everyone else and enjoy your life in the Circle City. Go Colts!

Updates and FAQ

Well, we're coming up on almost two years since our first few members started the Indianapolis Bloggers. The numbers are quickly and steadily climbing, which is great. There are a few things to remember and a few things you may not know if you're new, so I thought it would be a good time to share.

Non-Members:
If you would like to join the Indianapolis Bloggers, please click any of the "join" links on the right-hand side bar. Then follow the instructions. It's really easy. If you ever have any questions, just email me and I'll help (art3dp at yahoo dot com).

If you have already followed those steps and have not received your membership, make sure that you have the proper links set up on your homepage. Also, make sure you have been blogging frequently for the past few months. We've had to tighten up our requirements, due to the large number of bloggers wanting to join.

If you've done that and you still think you deserve your membership, email me and we will look into it and let you know what the delay is. Remember that we are looking for quality blogs and we reserve the right to deny your blog for whatever reason we pull out of our... heads.

Current Members
Ringsurf (which powers the actual ring portion of Indianapolis Bloggers) has gone through a massive overhaul. They've made a lot of changes, which means you can too. I believe you no longer need to have links to the "Prev, Next, Join, etc." As long as there is a link to this webpage and to Ringsurf, you should be okay. You can also delete the text that currently shows up next to "Powered by Ringsurf." If you ever have any questions about this, just let me know.

Also remember that if you want a small picture to be posted next to your blog's link (left hand side bar), you need to email the url to me and we'll get that set up. If you have no idea what I mean by that, but you're still interested, email me and we can walk you through it.

If I've forgotten anything, feel free to ask. Thanks for being a part of the Indianapolis Bloggers and be sure to spread the word.

Another Mass Joining!

Due to the increase in requests for blogs to join our little community, it's become much easier to accept people in large groups. So, please join me in welcoming our four newest members:

First up is Karissa, who has the blog alphabet by design. Karissa says the blog is, "my thoughts on some words and some words on my thoughts." Here's a bit more about the blog, taken from her about page:

hi. i'm karissa. a twenty-something living in my adopted hometown of indy. i work in communications and my job happens to be to promote the city. my job is pretty fun, but this blog is all my own.

Next is Brian, who is determined to become Indy's Biggest Loser. About the blog:

The journey to being healthier, fitter and leaner by an Indy resident. I share recipes, tips, hints, exercises and my journey!

Next we have the blogging duo of Greg and Allison, who bring us everything nagel. Here's a bit about them and the blog:

We are Gregg & Allison. We met in 1998 when Gregg's band was playing in a little bar called Dad's in the Chicago suburb of Geneva, IL. Gregg dropped his guitar pick and Allison jumped up to get it for him. We were married in Las Vegas in 2001 and celebrated our 7th anniversay this year, and a decade of being together. Needless to say, we're the bestest of friends. We are now living and working in Indianapolis.

Next up is King Tiger, the blogger behind The Tiger's Eye. This pretty much says it all:

One man's view from the heart of the Midwest. Kind of like watching a ballgame thru a knothole in the left field fence.

Last but not least is Carol with Juggling Plates. About her blog:

Perspectives of a feminist mom after leaving a career in IT to stay at home with her kids.

Thanks to everyone for joining! Be sure to check out all the other bloggers in your area and keep up the blogging!
