I remember it still today. It was April 1992 and my family was sitting at the Hoosier Dome waiting for Wrestlemania 8. I would get to see my hero at the time, Hulk Hogan square off against Psycho Sid. I remember the match. This weird guy, Papa Shango, came out and helped Sid beat up on Hogan. Then the Ultimate Warrior's music hit, and he's running down the ring to save Hogan. They clean house, and the match is over, but I was hooked. I've seen all kinds of eras of wrestling come and go, so I have to spew out my thoughts on the current wrestling scene, which is what I use this blog for. I like to review Monday Night Raw and pay per views. I also like to post up my own storyline ideas.

Some people throw themselves into a hobby. Knitting, painting, scrapbooking.... I choose to cook. I like to think of cooking as a means to an end. Now, I don’t just mean whipping up some Hamburger Helper between swim practice and Zumba, I mean researching the perfect recipe, tweaking it to be my own and making magic with the LG.

Cooking for myself and my family is more than just a necessity. I truly enjoy it. Now, that doesn't mean that I wake up every morning, tie on an apron and start taking orders. No way! But I do enjoy the happiness that a tall stack of pancakes or a dish of steaming hot enchiladas brings my 3 Boys! Nigella Lawson once said when asked what she thought of a particular dish on Iron Chef, that if the food brings her pleasure to eat then it is good.

My food isn't fancy but it is real. My recipes aren't from Le Cordon Bleu but they were tested in my kitchen and they work for me. My Panel of Judges seem to agree as well :)

So I hope you enjoy reading about my culinary successes as well as my failures...... and all of the life that happens along the way.

Indianapolis Bloggers recently received a Tweet requesting that we help spread the word about a Hot Pink Party. Well, if there's a Hot Pink Party happening in Indianapolis, then say no more. It sounds like the stuff dreams are made of, and it's coming soon to Indy. So read on and see what it's all about!

The Event:
On September 15, in The Fisbeck Room at 14 West, GlamourGals will be hosting its 4th Hot Pink Party! Previous parties have taken place in New York and Los Angeles, but nobody knows Hot Pink Parties like Indianapolis.

We know what you're thinking. "Okay, so I agree that a Hot Pink Party sounds amazingly awesome. But, what exactly would I be getting myself into?" Well, glad you asked. Here's a quick blurb from the GlamourGals site:

Guests will learn to make hot pink scarves, purchase raffles, and mingle with special guests and like minded philanthropic, fashionable Indy women while enjoying snacks and spreading awareness.

So the point of the party (and of this blogpost) is to raise awareness about GlamourGals and the community service they provide. Please read on to learn more.

Imagine yourself 50 years from now. Gosh you are old. You are probably living in some kind of senior home. Maybe most of your friends have already died. Maybe your family is too busy for you. Maybe the highlight of your day is getting apple sauce and Cool Whip for dessert after lunch. Maybe the worst thing is to feel you've been forgotten. And maybe you yourself have forgotten how special you are.

In all seriousness, GlamourGals provides an amazing community service to senior homes all across the country. Their mission statement sums it up pretty well:

GlamourGals is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit whose mission is to inspire and organize teens to provide ongoing complimentary beauty makeovers and companionship to elderly women living in senior homes.

It's something that is very much needed these days and we sincerely hope that Indianapolis will step up and support such a worthy cause.

I look for subject matter that I find interesting and unique and can find something to photograph in almost any location or situation if I look long and hard enough. I'm a wife and working mother (Aren't we all?) of 3. I've been married for almost 18 years and have seen the inside and out of "for better or for worse." But we're still at it. I was born and raised in the Midwest and am happy to be raising my family in the great state of Indiana, where I love to share that we have considerably more than corn, soybeans and race cars. I am a good Catholic girl, which means I've got guilt -- feeling it and dishing it -- down to a science. I've been a "woman of size" since I was 9 years old, though that size fluctuates as much as Indiana weather. If I could only eat one food for the rest of my life, it would be ice cream.

Hey Indianapolis music fans: The two-man, Chicago-based band Mutts is going to be playing this Saturday, June 18th at Radio Radio. Mutts combines the musical talents of Bob Buckstaff and Mike Maimone to bring basically the awesomest duo out of Chicago since Ryne Sandberg and Chicago-style pizza.

Doors to the show open at 8:00pm. Tickets are $7 at the door and you must be 21 to enter. Unless you can sneak in with a fake ID. But that is not recommended. For more on the show, click the Facebook page here.

Mutts was awesome enough to release their first three EPs absolutely free of charge. So you literally have nothing to lose by checking them out. Except maybe your time. And whatever internet connection you pay for. But the music is free! See below:

100th Anniversary of the Indianapolis 500: Sunday, May 29th, 2011

It's race weekend here in Indianapolis and everyone is getting geared up for the 100th Anniversary of the Indianapolis 500. We've thrown together a few fun facts that everyone should know about the 500. Hope you all have fun this weekend with whatever tailgating, cookouts, and hangouts you have going on. Be sure to drive safe and enjoy the festivities!

Fun 500 Facts:
1) Around 400,000 people could be in attendance.

2) That's a lot of people eating a lot of food and drinking a lot of beer (and a few other beverages). According to this chart, IMS would need around 5,000 Porta Potties to account for all that waste.

3) Before the race, they always play "Taps." And Jim Nabors always sings "Back Home Again in Indiana."

4) During rain delays, the crowd gets a bit restless. This video is the tamest evidence of this fact we could find. Pray for no rain. Pretty epic mudslide/faceplant here:

I'm a simple girl. The blogs that I read about natural hair talk about how proud they were to chop their hair and how they researched it and everything. I read some stuff beforehand of course, had talked to my husband a couple times about it. But what it came down to was necessity. I had matted hair. Like a dog. You see, I had my hair micro-braided and apparently, the chick had no clue what she is doing. This is what you get from knowing someone who knows someone, who doesn't have a license to do hair but does it out of her house while everyone around is smoking pot.

Anyway, I chopped all my hair off and for the first time ever (I never let anyone cut my hair willingly) I didn't cry about it. I felt a sense of empowerment.

I started this blog mainly because I am a sort of well, clueless, about hair. I figure there are other people out there that want to go natural, but have no clue what they are getting into. These are my thoughts, trials, and tribulations on the subject. Occasionally I will have non-hair related posts, but who doesn't?

I'm Liz. And if you are new to Eternal Lizdom (or if you are an obsessed stalker fan), you might want to get to know me a bit from my previous posts. Given that there are over 1,000 posts on this blog, it would be time consuming to read through everything (but a big gold star to anyone who does!). I'm hoping to make it a little easier for you by sharing a bunch of links that maybe show who I am and what I'm all about.

I consider myself a life blogger. I wear a lot of different hats so I can't imagine pigeon holing myself into one of those niches. Mommy blogger, fitness blogger, relationship blogger, photo blogger, Christian blogger, and so on.

We live in Indiana in a suburb outside of Indianapolis. My husband and I met in 2001 in community theatre. We were married in October 2003. We both work full time- he is an IT guy and I'm a corporate office worker. We have 2 kids- Teagan was born in 2005 and Zach was born in 2007. We have 1 pooch- a senior toy poodle named Sassy.

Indianapolis Blogger: The Lazy Christian

I don’t like reading a lot of Christian self-help stuff. They make me feel really, really bad. Yes, I’m a lousy Christian. Yes, I know I should do better. Yes, Jesus is coming so I’d better get a move on.

Not. Helpful.

Some blogs make you think, “Wow! So I need to move to a foreign country and spread the Gospel!” Or, “I’m giving myself two weeks to read the Bible cover to cover!” Maybe you should. Maybe you’re the type of person who would benefit from that advice. If so, then there it was. Do those things. Tell God I gave you the hint you needed. He’ll be glad I did something.

However, many people aren’t called to go to a foreign country, and, personally, my head would explode if I attempted to read the Bible in two weeks. Give me two years, maybe. I need a plan, but it needs to be manageable. Something I can handle and stick with. Something that will help me grow in my faith to the point where I don’t need a schedule or a plan anymore—I just do the Christiany things that I’m supposed to be doing.

First, I need to make a confession:

I am lazy.

There. I said it. I admit it. And I’m not talking just laziness in my faith. No, I’m all kinds of lazy. I’m sure we all have days like that, but for me, it’s a lifestyle. In fact, it’s amazing this article is even written. I want to play video games on the computer or watch movies instead of doing awful things like chores. I am the greatest dawdler who ever lived. I’ve found ways to waste time that others only dream of. I am seriously lazy.

I don’t particularly want to be classified as such. Part of me is even embarrassed to put it in writing. I want to be a go-getter! I want ambition! I’d even take the busy life of a soccer mom over being lazy. The trouble is that I don't know how to get out of this rut or even where to start.

The same happens with my faith. I want to be a prayer warrior. I want to be all fiery for God! I want to quote Scripture and know where stuff is in the Bible! I’ve even thought, “Hey, I could go to seminary or get a master’s in something religious, and then I’ll know everything and be done!”

Apparently, it doesn’t work that way. Faith is about having a relationship with God. While being able to find certain Scriptures is helpful, they’re only helpful if you’ve got God’s guidance on how to apply them to your life. There’s not really a short cut.

That being said, I really need to change what I’m doing. Now, I’m no theologian. I’m not someone who’s got it all together all the time, but we all need a starting place, right? My husband likes to quote James 4:8, which says that God will draw near to those who draw near to him. I need to make an effort. I need to show God that we’re ready to make a change and that we want a better relationship with him. That’s when we’ll start to feel a change in our hearts and our minds. That’s when the laziness will be replaced by a fire for God.

I don’t want my blog to just spout advice. Sometimes I feel like people tell me what I should do when they’ve never felt the way I have or have never struggled with the issues I do. Not so here. As the title would indicate, I’m lazy, and if I talk about something you should try, that means I’ve tried it. It’s given me a starting place for putting my faith on the right track. Should I get off track at any point—and chances are I will—I always have a method for beginning again.

I really hope you find this helpful. I have. And I hope this helps you find new ways to ditch your laziness and be an active Christ follower. Because he wants to spend time with us, you know. Even though we’re lazy.

I'm married to a wonderful man who is my best friend and the father of our two beautiful daughters. I love to cook, hate to clean, and would rather spend time with my family than anything in the world! I love my friends & family, and I love to laugh. Lucky for me, I'm blessed with great friends and family who fill my life with laughter daily!

I moved to Carmel almost three years ago, my friends from Indy LOVE to give me flack about living in Carmel. You can read all about it in my post, Carmelite in Training. To be honest, I'd never even heard of Carmel until a couple of months before we moved here so I had no idea what they were talking about when they first started giving me a hard time! I do love it here though, and I get why they give me heck but I don't mind it.

I love to talk about Parenting, Politics, & Religion, hence the witty blog title, but I don't try to indoctrinate anyone with my opinions. I love when people agree with me but I really love when people (respectfully) disagree with my views!

When I started blogging, I didn't think anyone would read it but I thought it would be a good way to get my thoughts "on paper" so I didn't blurt them out in some inappropriate context, like at my husband's company Christmas party. ha! (true story!) Now that I have a few readers (very few, but I'm not greedy!) it's a bit addicting! Having readers who don't know me well does make me worry sometimes, I don't want anyone thinking I'm a bitter, crazy, conservative nutjob! I tried to clear that up in Words Hurt, Lisa. That's also why I changed the tag line in my title to say "Passive aggressive ramblings of a sarcastic housewife where humor trumps fact-EVERY time!" It used to say "Agree with me or leave!" nah, I'm just joking!

One of my favorite posts, to date is Should I Get Out of Here? I laughed hysterically living it, writing it, and everytime I read it I laugh again! I also enjoy rereading each blog I've written about the Carmel PD and of course all that I've written about my beautiful babies.

I find my blog to be a very cathartic place. I also love that I have a journal of things that I think are important in our day to day lives. I get excited thinking that it may make someone laugh, smile, or really think. I hope that when others read it they have one of those reactions and I'm honored that Indianapolis Bloggers has accepted me and I invite you all to read it and COMMENT, seriously, the comments are good for my ego!

Hi. I’m Casey Mullins. I grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah and moved to Indianapolis, Indiana in 2006 with my husband Cody and our daughter Addie (born December 14, 2004.)

I’ve been married to Cody for almost 10 years (I met him when I was 18, married him when I was 19.)

I started this blog as a way to keep my family updated on our little kid while we were so far away. Writing became a hobby and a habit, somewhere around 2008 a camera was added to my arsenal and I’ve loved where the two (writing and photography) have taken me since.

I write about depression, something I know a little too much about. I’ve also written about infertility, something I learned a lot about over a five year span. Only recently have I started writing about pregnancy because I am (due May 1, 2011.) And every once in a while I’ll write about being a Mormon, which I also am. There’s a bunch of other stuff about stuff too, much of it with pictures.

My biggest goal with my little space here is to let others know they’re not alone in their struggles or feelings. My wish is that we could all take better care of each other, realizing how much we have in common instead of tearing one another down for being, thinking, looking or believing in something different.

This Saturday, May 7th will be the 35th Annual Indianapolis Mini-Marathon. It is currently booked up with 35,000 participants! If you didn't know, it is the largest half marathon in the country. So... we're kind of a big deal.

If you're a blogger in Indianapolis and you participate in the event, be sure to let us know. We'll add your name to our list and link up to any post you write up about the event.

The mini-marathon is a lot of fun, so hopefully you all can get out and enjoy it. Even if you aren't running.

Wow guys. I don’t even know what to say. This is such an honor, to be accepted into such a prestigious group as Indianapolis Bloggers. Luckily, I prepared a speech, just in case.

Ahem... On the day I started my blog, Physicians Wife, I never dreamed that anyone would read it. I was just a housewife/nanny/owner of 2 puppies and a cat with a need to write about whatever I felt like. Who could have known that just three months of writing, I would be getting hits and comments from people I didn’t even know! Before I knew it, I had come across Indianapolis Bloggers and been accepted into your fold. I have so many people/things/inanimate objects to thank.

First of all, a big thank you to my computer. Laptop, none of this would be possible without you. I also must thank wordpress.com for being free and easy to use. Another shout out to facebook.com, for constantly informing all of my facebook friends, most of whom probably have my updates blocked from their news feeds by now, of every blog post I make. Thank you even more to google.com for helping me to find this wonderful community called Indianapolis Bloggers. Thank you to my friends and family, who occasionally humor me by reading my blog. Hey guys,

My name's Clara and I've been living in Indy my whole life and I love it. My blog is called La Corredora (Spanish for "the runner"). I'm an ultrarunner and that's all my blog's about- just running. I typically run the least amount of miles during the week (30-60) that I can get by with in order to finish the big races.

My favorite races are the Dances With Dirt (DWD) runs, with Gnaw Bone coming up in May after the Indy mini, and my 2nd attempt to complete the Mohican 100 miles in June (see my first attempt here).

Hey everyone. First of all, a big thank you to those of you who have kept up the requirements of the Indianapolis Bloggers, despite the lack of oversight and non-contact. You're the best.

This blog started as a way to use a "blogging ring" for people to easily browse through various blogs in the Indianapolis area. Unfortunately, the site used to support that ring has changed dramatically and basically has become a huge advertisement. In short, it is no longer ideal as a means to meet our objectives.

So, there's going to be a few changes around here. Obviously, the template has been modified. There are also new requirements to become a member of the Indianapolis Bloggers. If you're interested in reading those, you can check it out and feel free to suggest any further requirements you think we should have.

As for you existing members, consider yourselves a part of the clan as of today. Once you are a member of the Indianapolis Bloggers, a link to your blog will be forever immortalized on the list at the bottom of this site. Consider this our "thank you" for joining so early. If you want to add a picture to go along with your link, click here for more info. If your blog is missing from that list, let us know and we'll get that fixed for you.

Although we will always consider you a part of us, in order get the full benefit of being an Indianapolis Blogger, you must become an Active Member. Don't worry, it's super easy.

First off, no more junky ring HTML necessary on your homepage. Yay! All you have to do is publish a new post about Indianapolis Bloggers. Nothing fancy is required, just a quick blurb with a link to let your readers know we exist. Then send an email to indianapolisbloggers@gmail.com with a link to your post. That's it! (Of course, we'd be extra appreciative of any additional links you add to any of your blogrolls, homepage, etc. etc. :)

Why You Should Become An Official Indianapolis Blogger

Do I really need to make this post? I mean, seriously? Can't you just look around and see how awesome we are? Don't you want to be a part of something special? Okay, honestly though, here's what being an Indianapolis Blogger can do for you and your blog:

GETTING THAT WARM FUZZY FEELING FROM DOING SOMETHING GOOD

Are you tired of people thinking Indianapolis is just some podunk town in the middle of a cornfield? I mean, maybe that's true, but it's our podunk town and there's lots to love about it. By becoming an Indianapolis Blogger, you can help give the world a better idea of what's really going on here at the crossroads of America. Honestly, you'll be doing a service to this city and all the residents who live here. And that should make you feel warm and fuzzy inside.

FREE STUFF!!

Who doesn't like free? We frequently get freebies from event promoters in the Indianapolis area. They have an event and want to spread the word; you have a blog and can help spread it. The tickets for these events are often limited and first dibs will always go to Indianapolis Bloggers. Active Members will receive an email whenever there is an opportunity to go to an event. You can also subscribe to our feed to get updates on any posts made concerning the events.

TRAFFIC

We're no experts on SEO or anything like that. All we know is that if someone is looking for a blog from Indianapolis, they're going to end up here. Go ahead and do a Google search for Indianapolis blogs. Too lazy for that? Sigh, then just click here. Or try googling blogs from Indianapolis. Or basically any combination of blogging and Indianapolis. You will always end up here. Guess who benefits from that traffic? You do! There are four possible ways for traffic to be sent to your blog, directly from the Indianapolis Bloggers main page.

1) Indianapolis Bloggers List. This list is at the bottom of the site. Keep in mind that it will be posted on every page of this website. Once you are a member, a link to your blog will be added and pretty much cannot be removed. Unless you manage to really screw up and get kicked out.

2) Indianapolis Blogger Member "About Me" Post. When you become an Active Member, we will publish a post about your blog. This post is all yours to say whatever you want. Let us know about you or your blog. It will be your opportunity to send traffic to your blog, so be sure to think through what you want to say. Click here to see example posts, and remember that you can add pictures and video. Anything you want! Make it extra special.

3) Find a Random Indianapolis Blogger. There's a fun little link on the left sidebar called "Find a Random Indianapolis Blogger." Once you become an Active Member, your blog will get added to the list of blogs that will connect to that link. It's a crap shoot, but eventually somebody clicking that link will get to your blog. Go ahead and try it out! It's barrels of fun.

4) Recently Updated Blogs. Active Members will also have their blog added to the "Recently Updated Blogs" widget on the left sidebar. When that happens, every time you make a new post on your blog, a link to your post will pop up at the top of the list on this blog. It will show your blog name and the title of your post (be sure to come up with creative post titles!). So the more you blog, the better your odds of getting traffic from this site. If you abuse this system by spam posting to keep your blog at the top of the list, you will receive a stern warning from the approval overlords. Then your blog will be removed.

5) Word of Mouth. Have you ever been at a party and had a friend say, "Hey! Have you checked out that new blog about Jim from Indianapolis and his opinions on everything from movies to organic farming?" Well, we haven't either. But you never know....

MEETING OTHER INDIANAPOLIS BLOGGERS

We realize most people will join the Indianapolis Bloggers for the free stuff and the traffic. That's okay. But hopefully you'll take some time and get to know the bloggers you live with. There really are some great blogs out there that you'll probably never hear about outside of this little community. So do yourself a favor and click around and leave a few comments. Everybody loves to get comments. Be sure to come back here often to see who's new. Or better yet, just subscribe to our feed and get updates in your reader.

Joining the Indianapolis Bloggers

So, you've spent some time looking around and can't wait to join such an awesome group of bloggers, right? No?

Really, you just want more traffic coming to your blog, don't you? Okay, fine, that's cool too. Obviously, the more successful this blog is, the more traffic you'll get. So we need you to do your part and help with the growth. A bit of blogging quid pro quo, if you will. More on that later.

Okay, whatever your reason for wanting to join the ranks, here's what you need to do:

REQUIREMENTS

1) You have to live in Indianapolis or the surrounding area. If you don't live in Indianapolis, but blog exclusively about Indianapolis, we'll count that too (but really, who does that?).

2) You have to be an active and established blogger. Most blogs die out within the first 3 months. If you haven't been blogging for at least 3 months, chances are, you aren't going to make it and we don't want you cluttering up our awesome group.

3) Your blog must be a personal blog, written by you. If you are a corporation that sets up a "blog" and pays someone to write posts in order to generate traffic for your products or services, we don't want your kind here. We're simple folk and prefer a personal touch.

4) Your blog must not contain any pornographic or offensive content or links. C'mon now. Keep it classy.

5) Your blog must be approved. All this means is that we reserve the right to reject your blog for any reason whatsoever. Your blog can also be later removed if any of the requirements are not met, or according to the whims of the approval overlords.

APPROVAL PROCESS

If you've gotten this far and still think yourself worthy, you still have to pass the ultimate test: getting your blog approved. Once you're sure that you meet the above requirements, send an email to indianapolisbloggers@gmail.com. Just be friendly and humble and ask that you might please, oh pretty please, join the Indianapolis Bloggers.

Now, we know your blog is a lovely little thing and you're probably quite proud of it. So please, don't take it personally if you don't get approved.

YOU SCRATCH OUR BACK, WE'LL SCRATCH YOURS

Now comes the easy part. Once you've gotten approved, you will receive an email congratulating you on your greatest blogging accomplishment. The last step will be for you to write a simple post on your blog about the Indianapolis Bloggers. Nothing fancy, just a little something to let your friends and family know we're here. Of course, you will need to include a link in your post. You'd think that was obvious, but we've come across some dense Hoosiers in our day.

If you have an event that you are promoting and need help getting the word out, you've come to the right place. We know Indianapolis is a great place to call home and we want to encourage people to get out there and live, dammit! So please, let us know about it. Here's what you'll need to do:

MY EVENT IS SPECTACULAR AND EVERYONE SHOULD BE THERE

1) If you have an upcoming event, send an email to indianapolisbloggers@gmail.com.

2) Tell us all of the information that needs to be in a post about your event. Be sure to include any links, graphics, etc. and any specific blurbs you want to see in the post.

3) If you are wanting bloggers to attend your event and then write up a review on their own blogs, this can be arranged. We have done this in the past and always welcome free passes. Please note that giving free passes greatly enhances the odds of bloggers attending your event. Buuuut, it's not required.

WHAT INDIANAPOLIS BLOGGERS GUARANTEES FOR YOU

Well, basically we can't guarantee anything. Here's what you can hope will happen though:

1) After you send your email, you will be contacted to confirm all of the information is correct and to make sure you aren't yet another steaming hot pile of spam.

2) We will publish a post on the front page of this site, giving all the details provided to us, and encouraging everyone in the Indianapolis area to attend.

3) An email will be sent out to all of our active members so that they are aware of the event. If your event is truly awesome, chances are, one of these bloggers will also write a post about it.

4) You will be astounded as thousands of area residents flock to catch a glimpse of the awesome awesomeness that is your event. You become a legendary promoter and are instantly called into your boss's office where he tells you that you have just been made Chief Marketing Officer and gives you two weeks paid vacation to consider the offer. While thinking about how awesome you are, sipping mai tais on a secluded beach somewhere warm, you meet the significant other of your dreams and decide to stay. You then tell the poor sap who now has your job about the Indianapolis Bloggers and all we did for you so that next time there is an event, he'll know where to turn.

5) Just a reminder that these aren't guarantees; they're hopes and dreams.

Adding a Picture to Your Permanent Link

If you would like to add a picture to go along with the permanent link to your blog (at the bottom of this site), here's what you need to know:

1) First, you'll need to send the link of your picture to indianapolisbloggers@gmail.com. Make sure you link to a picture that you are hosting. If this link is ever broken, your picture will be removed.

2) The size of the picture will not be more than 115 pixels in height, and 225 in width. Anywhere in between is fine. Be sure to tell us what size you prefer, or we will default to 115x225. See the Life in the Shadows example (it is exactly 115x225).

3) Keep these measurements in mind when deciding on your picture. If you would like us to adjust the size of your picture after seeing what it looks like, just email us or a leave a comment on this post.

Apparently, Jared Fogle is running the ING NYC Marathon, and they are having a send off for him This Thursday. There are free giveaways and fun other things. I wanted to get something on your radar for the network of Indianapolis Bloggers. I’m working with Jared (the SUBWAY guy) who is preparing to run the ING New York City Marathon – pretty impressive for a man who used to weigh more than 400 pounds.

Updates and FAQ

Well, we're coming up on almost two years since our first few members started the Indianapolis Bloggers. The numbers are quickly and steadily climbing, which is great. There are a few things to remember and a few things you may not know if you're new, so I thought it would be a good time to share.

Non-Members:
If you would like to join the Indianapolis Bloggers, please click any of the "join" links on the right-hand side bar. Then follow the instructions. It's really easy. If you ever have any questions, just email me and I'll help (art3dp at yahoo dot com).

If you have already followed those steps and have not received your membership, make sure that you have the proper links set up on your homepage. Also, make sure you have been blogging frequently for the past few months. We've had to tighten up our requirements, due to the large number of bloggers wanting to join.

If you've done that and you still think you deserve your membership, email me and we will look into it and let you know what the delay is. Remember that we are looking for quality blogs and we reserve the right to deny your blog for whatever reason we pull out of our... heads.

Current Members
Ringsurf (which powers the actual ring portion of Indianapolis Bloggers) has gone through a massive overhaul. They've made a lot of changes, which means you can too. I believe you no longer need to have links to the "Prev, Next, Join, etc." As long as there is a link to this webpage and to Ringsurf, you should be okay. You can also delete the text that currently shows up next to "Powered by Ringsurf." If you ever have any questions about this, just let me know.

Also remember that if you want a small picture to be posted next to your blog's link (left hand side bar), you need to email the url to me and we'll get that set up. If you have no idea what I mean by that, but you're still interested, email me and we can walk you through it.

Due to the increase in requests for blogs to join our little community, it's become much easier to accept people in large groups. So, please join me in welcoming our four newest members:

We are Gregg & Allison. We met in 1998 when Gregg's band was playing in a little bar called Dad's in the Chicago suburb of Geneva, IL. Gregg dropped his guitar pick and Allison jumped up to get it for him. We were married in Las Vegas in 2001 and celebrated our 7th anniversay this year, and a decade of being together. Needless to say, we're the bestest of friends. We are now living and working in Indianapolis.

Next up is King Tiger, the blogger behind The Tiger's Eye. This pretty much says it all:

Four New Bloggers to "Ring" in the New Year

Sorry for the extended wait on this batch of new bloggers. Things have been a bit hectic and we actually have quite a large list of people waiting to join the ring now. Remember, if you've applied and still haven't been admitted, either something is wrong with your code, or you haven't yet met the requirement of being an established blogger (at least 2 solid months of blogging). Just be patient and keep up the blogging!

Now, on to our newest members. First up is Neastrith, who has dubbed himself "The Movie Slut." Here's a bit of an explanation about what that is and what this blog is about:

Movie Slut: a person considered cinematically promiscuous. "I watch bad movies, so you don't have to."

Boy, I could've used this one before I watched A Walk to Remember.

Next up we have Joh Padgett who brings us the Hoosier political blog Monticello. Here's a bit about the blog:

Monticello is the home of left leaning "liberaltarian" philosophy. The overriding principle of freedom is prevalent throughout and the blog has a focus in particular on Hoosier political culture of the blue persuasion.

Next is Josh Woody who is a professional recruiter and has started a blog to help facilitate his recruits for internet marketing. His blog is called Web Marketing Recruiter.com and here's a bit more about it:

Alright, it's time for another batch of Indianapolis Bloggers to join the ring. If you're still waiting to be accepted, just be patient and keep blogging. Chances are, you're still too new. You'll get there.

Our first blogger is Emilee, who is the creative mastermind behind Dire Mirth. Her words are better than mine, so here's a bit about the blog:

A lot of fortuitous, seemingly disjunctive stories, reviews, and thoughts that make up the life of one mid-20's Indianapolis woman. By day, and often by night, Emilee is a law student in downtown Indianapolis. The rest of the time she is a runner, traveler, chef, sci-fi geek, bookworm, venture web-developer, gamer, and on and on. If you enjoy random, geeky, and often silly forays into life - then you will probably, maybe, in all likelihood enjoy Dire Mirth.

You don't find that combination everyday. Be sure to go check out the blog!

Next up is TeeCee, who writes about the glorious culture of Indianapolis in the blog, Trifles. More about the blog:

Witty and often inane banter about design, fashion, jewelry, books, film, and Indianapolis culture (or lack thereof).

Well, we've got six new bloggers joining us today. If you've recently applied to join the Indianapolis Bloggers and still have not been added to the ring, it's probably because the code is wrong on your site, or you haven't been blogging long enough. First we have Jason, who brings us The Be All, Blog All. Here's a bit more about the blog:

The Be All Blog All is like that junk drawer that you have in your kitchen. It's full of all kinds of random crap, but any time you're looking for something, you can find it there. I’m a 25 year old married guy with a kid on the way living in the suburbs of Indianapolis, Indiana. I love me some Indianapolis Colts football, football in general really, Texas Longhorns football, and some other sports. I try to keep the blog updated whenever I can find something interesting to talk about, so bookmark the site and check back often.

Next up is Ryan, The Bass Geek. About him and the blog:

Ryan is a 33-year-old aficionado of low end frequencies and digital gadgetry. He and his wife make their home in the lovely Fountain Square neighborhood of Indianapolis, where they tend to their old house and their almost-as-old pug. Alright, next up is Brian. Brian is the brain behind B. More about B:

B... well, it’s my first initial, and I guess it could represent B -ing yourself - or myself. Who am I kidding, I thought chic was spelled sheik, but apparently that’s an Islamic patriarch of a tribe or family. You’ll probably see posts mostly about music and web sites, as I am a web developer professionally and a musician amateurtionally. I was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana, where my wife and I just purchased a home, so I don’t think we’re going anywhere for a while.

Okay, last one for the day is Cindy who brings us Writing for Reading. Cindy's blurb:

When’s the last time you read something all the way through just because the author was some high-ranking official within a company? Do you read the newsletter of an organization you care about if the writing is excruciatingly dull? Two New Indianapolis Bloggers!

First of all, my apologies for those who had to wait so long to be added to the ring. I've been out of town a lot (and will be again next week) and it usually doesn't take this long. If you're still waiting to be added (there are at least 15 of you), it is probably because:

1) Your ring code is still wrong and hasn't been accepted by RingSurf.
2) You aren't an established blog (less than three months, less than 10 posts a month) and I'm waiting to see if you're serious about blogging, or if you'll be quitting in another month after the novelty of blogging wears off.
3) You are a corporate blog and it is obvious that you are blogging solely to promote your business. We want personal blogs here folks.

Indianapolis Bloggers Hits a Milestone!

Congratulations all of you IB bloggers out there. We have come to our first milestone. With our newest blogger, who I will introduce after this amazing announcement, we have hit 30 Bloggers! That's right. Our ring is now thirty strong! Thanks for all of you spreading the word. Please continue to do so. I'm convinced we can be a one-stop for every Indianapolis Blogger in the city. Keep it up!

Our newest blogger has been around the block for a while. It appears he's been blogging since January of 2002! I'm impressed. His name is Michael and his blog is Gottahavacuppamocha. A bit more about Michael and his blog:

He doesn’t own a car, watch TV, or listen to the radio. He is not a luddite, but feels these things are overated and unnecessary in his life. However, he is fond of music, likes movies, and appreciates certain vehicles as works of art. His personal choices for entertainment are books, DVD’s, and the Internet. He also messes around with Blender 3D software, GIMP raster graphics, and Sodipodi vector graphics. Mike also likes to tinker with his website, as it is a “work-in-progress.”

Do you love mini-comics? Do you think you might if you only knew what a mini-comic was? Then you need to go check out our newest Indianapolis Blogger, Shawn. He is the creative genius who brings us "SIZE MATTERS." More about Shawn's blog:

SIZE MATTERS is about mini-comics. Not the comics you grew up with, but intimate hand-crafted works or art. People send in mini-comics from all over; when he has time, Shawn reviews them. Some of these minis are amazing. Some not so much. But at least it's not Spawn or Batman.
